Got my BFA at Syracuse University concentrating in filmmaking,  photography and printmaking.  Went on to get an MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago concentrating in film and photo.
Moved to NYC and began working in the film and service industries.  Worked on many features as a still photographer.
My upbringing was a Japanese mother and an American father who was in the military,  so travelling and eating are a big part of my DNA.  It was a natural progression for me to want to photograph my travels and all the food that goes along with that. This photo was taken at Tsukiji fish market at around 4 am.  I initially tried to sneak out and go solo but my parents decided to join me.  This photo reminds me how we ate fresh Otoro at 6 am straight from the market to our plates and bellies and that’s what food generally does…brings us back to great memories.
