Michele Zousmer is a visionary fine art photographer who amplifies the voices of individuals and communities often marginalized by society. She shows us the tapestry of human experience, casting light on lives that might have remained concealed in the shadows. Her work exemplifies the transformative power of this medium, as she possesses an extraordinary gift for immortalizing fleeting instances of grace and beauty that persist even amid life’s most significant challenges. Through her lens, she becomes a storyteller, an advocate, and a conduit for change, inviting viewers to journey into the worlds she captures. In doing so, she illuminates the threads that weave us all together.
Statement:
Pa is one of 12 children living in a halting site. A child in the Irish Traveller community, a proud group of people who are blatantly discriminated against in Ireland, he is protecting ,with his trusted guard dog, what is his. Family is everything.
For ostracized populations across the globe and throughout history, stereotyping has proven damaging and at times even deadly.
In my ongoing effort to dispel prejudices, photographer I have spent a career investigating marginalized groups and the ways they cope with the physical and mental hardships that befall them.
