Bio: Kate Brooks is an American photographer and filmmaker. Her photographs have been extensively published in TIME, Newsweek, Smithsonian and The New Yorker and exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Annenberg Space for Photography. In 2011, Brooks published In the Light of Darkness: A Photographer’s Journey After 9/11 which was selected as one of the best photography books of the year. In 2012-13, she was a Knight Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan where she researched the global wildlife trafficking crisis before directing The Last Animals. The documentary premiered at Tribeca Film Festival and was distributed by National Geographic, Hulu and Netflix. She is currently completing a MFA in Film and Media Arts.
