I started taking photos in Los Angeles in the mid-60s as a teenager, and after a hiatus of many decades returned to photography after moving to Western North Carolina in the 2010s. In between I have worked as a locomotive mechanic, community and union organizer, and technology and educational consultant, among other things. All of these undertakings inform my photographs, as does the amazing natural life of the mountains, ocean and desert.
