After receiving a Master of Visual Design degree from NCSU in my home state of North Carolina, I began my professional career in New York as an art director for children’s book publishing. As a watercolorist illustrator, I have written and illustrated picture books for young children. In 2012, I left corporate publishing and returned to North Carolina
and began a larger format, acrylic painting practice.
In 2014, My husband and I bought a house and 10 acres in Hillsborough. I began photographing flowers from the gardens and fields in objects I’ve collected. The objects are never artificially lit, never purchased—all of the botanicals come from the land on which we live. Recently, I have begun using found objects as vessels.
These images are an embodiment of all I have experienced as a graphic designer, art director, creative director and painter and a direct response to the light and seasons of North Carolina.
