Nancy Scherl is a fine art photographer based in New York City. She describes her work as cinematic, and refers to her images as either Staged Realities or Staged Fantasies. Drawing from pictorial and street photography genres, Nancy interweaves both genres into her narratives.

 

Nancy completed an MFA in Photography, Video and Related Media at New York City’s School of Visual Arts, following her undergraduate studies in documentary and fine art photography at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers where she served as a board member (2016-2019) and currently serves as co‑president on the Board of the Katonah Museum Artists’ Association (KMAA) in Katonah, New York.

 

Among other awards, Nancy’s work earned a place in Photolucida 2018 Critical Mass Top 200; received two 2016 first place awards in the Moscow International Foto Awards and a bronze award in the 2016 Tokyo International Foto Awards. Nancy has exhibited in numerous select shows, including the A Smith Gallery 2020 Portraits Exhibition; South X Southeast 2020 Photogallery; 2018 Katonah Museum of Art Tri-State Juried Exhibition Signals in Katonah, New York; and 2015 Katonah Museum Artists Association juried show Time and Place at the Hammond Museum in North Salem, New York.
